5 Easy Ways to Drink More Water

I have been on somewhat of a health and fitness journey this year, especially over the last few months. First, my husband and I took on a vegan diet , and then as the summer approached, I decided to take up jogging. Both were major strives in my quest to live my best, and healthiest life. Another big hurdle I needed to jump was to drink more water. I have gone through stages where I drink lots of water, and others where I just don’t. I am not proud of the latter! Water is incredibly important for so many reasons. More energy, as a weight loss aid, for glowing skin, and much more.
There is no better time to recognize that than now, in my 40s. As I age, I can see and feel the effects of not drinking enough water. But, I know all is not lost. I’m still young enough to make a big impact in my overall well-being. Right? Right!

DRINK GREAT TASTING WATER

Not all water is the same. We’ve all had dreadful tap water, oftentimes with a strange aftertaste, or worse..visible particles floating in it. Can you imagine what you can’t see? Eeew. Using only the best purified water is key. I have discovered Primo and will never look back!

Why? Because Primo water goes through a multi-step purification process that includes reverse osmosis. Part of their process removes or significantly reduces chlorine and chlorine by-products, bacteria and parasites, heavy metals (like lead and mercury), trace levels of pharmaceuticals and many more contaminants. It’s the real deal Holyfield (are you listening 80s kids?)!

Using a Primo in home dispenser is super simple.

First, order your water dispenser and 5 gallon refillable bottle. I have the Smart Touch Deluxe Bottom Loading Water Dispenser, but there are several to choose from. When shopping, be sure to include a non-spill cap.

Its sleek design looks great in my kitchen! The Primo dispensers are great for hot and cold water; certain dispensers provide ice-cold, cool, warm and hot water – choose the dispenser that works best for your household!

The next part is so easy that my 11 year old could do it. Well, I still have to drive him…

Look up your closest Primo refill station location (you may notice it is labeled ‘Glacier’, which is the same company). You can find them at most big box stores such as Home Depot, CVS, Walmart, and many more. For a small amount, fill up your bottle with the purified water.


Installing the refillable bottle into this dispenser is easy as pie. Just open the bottom door and pull out the probe. Clean it with a damp cloth and dish soap first, then remove the cap from the refillable bottle, and insert the probe into the bottle, pressing firmly to secure it in. That’s it! Follow complete directions included with your dispenser.

So, I have been doing what I can to make drinking water a normal part of my day. While I am being intentional about it, my body is starting to crave it naturally, thanks to my daily runs. Coming home to great tasting purified water is awesome!

If you are looking for ways to drink more water, here are a few ideas:

ADD FLAVOR TO A PITCHER OF WATER

Lemon slices make a refreshing and tasty addition to fresh water. Also consider berries, or even basil, or mint leaves.

MAKE ICED TEA

If you could use a pick me up throughout the day, brew some tea and keep it in a pitcher nearby. Just add ice cubes!

DRINK A GLASS BEFORE EACH MEAL

A great way to fill up before a meal, and avoid overeating, is to have a full glass of water before each meal. 3 meals, plus 2 snacks per day equals 5 easy servings a day!

SUBSTITUTE WATER FOR EVERY BEVERAGE

DILUTE DRINKS WITH WATER & ICE

If you must drink other beverages, water them down a bit! You’ll likely replace some calories with fresh water, and reap the health benefits.
