Baseball Valentine- We made these easy Baseball Valentines with Kwik Stix tempera paint. They are a great no mess way to make crafts for kids. Super fun, and did I mention they are mess free?
I blinked and BOOM, suddenly it’s February! Not only the shortest month of the year, but also the most romantic one. Unless you’re a mom, in which case the love can be overshadowed with class parties and Valentine grams. It can be overwhelming, so making time to spend with your lovies this month is especially important. My littlest guy and I decided to make a fun card for his dad, a baseball valentine of course. It had been a long while since we crafted together, it was so much fun! His attention span isn’t what it used to be, with video games and sports calling his name, so this project was perfect. We used Kwik Stix Tempera Sticks to paint. They have a fast-drying formula that allows them to dry in just 90 seconds. Easy, fast, and from the heart!
My hubs’ favorite sport is baseball, and well, tis the season, so we went with painting a white heart and adding red ‘stitching’ over it. This craft can totally be customized. Love football or soccer? Go for it! Only your imagination can limit you.
Instructions are easy, follow along:
Materials:
Construction paper (or cardstock) in your desired colors
Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint (available at Michaels)
Small paper plate (for the baseball stitching)
Super cute kid (optional, but not really)
Directions:
Channel your inner kindergartener, and cut out a heart the old fashioned way. Fold a sheet of paper in half, draw a half heart on the fold, and cut it out.
Have your kiddo trace it onto the other sheet of paper and fill it in. In this case we went with white to mimic a baseball.
After that dries (remember about 90 seconds flat), place the paper plate on the heart as shown below, and trace in red. Add the ‘stitching’ freehand.
Be sure to have your child write out his or her message in any marker on the front, we went with the classic ‘be my Valentine’. Because the paint dried so quickly, it was NO MESS WHATSOEVER. Even when the inevitable palm was placed on the recently applied paint, none got on the skin. No paint on my dining room table either, or on anyone’s clothes. WINNER! If you’re looking for brighter shades, Kwik Stix are available in Neon and Metalix too.
As our kiddos are growing up, making time to spend with them is imperative. They may not want to at first, but we always have a great time, and my little guy is always the first to admit it. This is a great project for kids of any age, and the perfect craft for a young athlete to gift his awesome Dad.
How do you make time to spend with your kids?
