Try This Amazing Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Have you ever tasted something and thought…”oh em geesh, this is the best blankety-blank, I have ever had in my life!”? Well take that sentiment and multiply it my friends, because I am about to introduce you to the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies ever!

They are just too good not to share. Not only is this Chocolate Chip Cookie from scratch recipe delicious, it’s super easy to follow, and there’s a sneaky little healthy protein addition that your kids will never even notice (points for you, Mom). To make these chocolate chip cookies the healthiest I could without sacrificing taste and texture, I added a little Collagen Protein, and kicked them up about a thousand notches.

To be clear, this recipe is fantastic with or without adding collagen protein to them. You can skip it altogether, and just enjoy the total yumminess that are these chocolate chip cookies. In fact, for years I made them without the collagen, and it wasn’t until I started researching the protein that I began to incorporate it into these cookies.

However, if you are looking for a healthier option for your growing athletic kids, I recommend considering adding the collagen.

What is Collagen and Why Is It So Important?

Collagen is naturally made in the human body. It makes up about a third of all the proteins the body produces, and almost all of the bone mass.

Benefits of Collagen Protein for Athletes

Collagen is known to increase bone strength, flexibility of your joints, and improves skin smoothness.

That last reason alone got me a little giddy, not gonna lie! I learned this as I was doing research on how to speed up joint healing after my son suffered a knee injury a couple summers ago, so I started to add it into anything I could.

I add collagen into smoothies, sauces, dips, and yes even cookies! Anywhere I can sneak it in with the lowest chance of detection, you can bet I laced it with collagen protein.

Why not? If my boys can have better ease of movement and less pain and inflammation in their joints, and stronger bones to boot, there is really no argument against it from me. They work really hard, and sometimes push their bodies passed its limit. Knowing that they are taken care of from the inside out makes me feel better as a mama.

One of my favorite benefits of collagen is the healthy effects it has skin. The claim is that it improves the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and overall elasticity. That is a huge plus for me. I can’t say I’ve seen much of a difference, but I will admit, I don’t have it as often as my kids do. As most parents, I tend to care for my family’s health more than my own. Not good, I know!

I will need to incorporate into my diet more often and then after a period of time, report back with results.

Healthier Chocolate Chip Cookies for After School or Before Games

These chocolate chip cookies are great for after a long day of school, or before heading out to practice, or games. Add a cold glass of milk for an excellent blend of carbs and protein, which is a great source of fuel for a grueling workout.

Yes, they are cookies, so be warned—there is sugar involved. I don’t offer these to the kids every day, but I do pack one in lunches as an occasional treat, or with their parent’s permission, hand them out to teammates after games.

As with anything you feed your kids, nothing beats fruits, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and lean proteins. However, if you want to give your children a tasty goody, these chocolate chip cookies are a fantastic option.

Seriously they are the perfect combination of chewy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. OH SO CHOCOLATEY-GOOD!
