SPORTS ODOR ELIMINATOR

I love to make my own sprays for cleaning and so many other things. They are far less expensive, and I like that I can customize the ingredients. This keeps me in the know of what is going into my family’s environment, what they’re breathing in, and what they are physically exposed to.

My kids are stinky. I think so many of us sports parents can say the same. After even just minutes of sweating they reek of dirt and grime, grass, and who knows what else. All I know is that the scent is violent and it needs to be taken care of immediately! Certainly before getting into my car or walking though the front door. Spraying them and their gear down beforehand is a must!

Essential oils are a huge part of my life and it seems that every day I find more and more ways to use them in my household. If you use the purest oils like I do, each drop is super potent so it’s important that when using oils the recipe is followed exactly as listed.

Sports Odor Eliminator Spray

HOW DO YOU GET THE SWEAT SMELL OUT OF CLOTHES AND GEAR WITHOUT WASHING IT?

Simply make this spray and spritz liberally over sweaty uniforms and equipment after a workout. Lemon oil is powerful enough to eliminate odors and clean surfaces on contact.

WHEN SHOULD I USE THIS ODOR ELIMINATOR SPRAY?

Of course this will not substitute machine washing uniforms and other stinky clothes, but it can make it far more pleasant to be around. This is great for those post game pizza parties, you know, where all the kids show up still in their dirty uniforms and you are still expected to enjoy the food and drinks despite the obvious stench in the room. Let’s not forget the car ride home after they spent a couple more hours sweating at the restaurant with no shower. Eeew.

Don’t forget the sports equipment in the trunk of the car, where it gets even more musty and gross smelling. Spray this sports odor eliminator blend on your kids’ sports bags, helmets, hats, and gloves too.

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE SPORTS ODOR ELIMINATOR SPRAY?

For this easy to make spray you will need Lemon Essential Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, Witch Hazel and Water (distilled). You will also need a Dark Glass Bottle and an optional funnel.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE ESSENTIAL OILS IN THIS DIY STINKY GEAR SPRAY?

Essential oils are free of harsh chemicals that can irritate skin. These oils are also affordable. Since each drop is so powerful a little goes a very long way. Considering the price of deodorizing sprays on the market these days, having this easy blend around is convenient and cost effective. Not to mention it won’t harm the user or the environment.

HOW DO YOU MAKE SPORTS ODOR ELIMINATOR SPRAY?

Combine the ingredients as listed below. Make sure you use a dark (amber) glass spray bottle. Avoid plastic bottles as essential oils can break down plastic over time.

HOW LONG WILL THIS ODOR SPRAY LAST?

Essential oils have a pretty good shelf life, however storage is key. Store in a cool dry place, so that less oxygen comes in contact with the spray. This should make the odor eliminator spray last around 2 years, however if your kids and family is as active as mine is, you will go through several bottles in that amount of time!
