Fun Sports Easter Basket Ideas for boys and girls!
Easter Baskets are a family staple. Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, kids from all walks of life enjoy being blessed with a fun treat from the Easter bunny this time of year.
Baskets vary by kids’ interests, ages, and gender. However there is one type for every kid regardless of all of those things.
In my home this holiday is taken very seriously. It marks the day we honor the most important event in the Christian faith, and that is the resurrection of our Lord. Because of that I have never put too much emphasis on bunnies and eggs. However, I can’t deny that those are a fun part of the season. When the boys were younger we’d celebrate by painting Easter eggs, and a hunt for eggs that were filled with chocolate, candy, and sometimes a buck or two. Our church service was always first, but coming home to enjoy those things was a lot of fun too!
Nowadays, this time of year isn’t as hectic as it used to be. With my youngest being 12, and the oldest almost 18 (WOW-almost a grown up!), Easter is easier for my peeps (pun totally intended) than it was when they were younger. Back then I would spend hours planning for baskets and egg hunts and all the fun kiddie things of the holiday, but not so much anymore. If we’re not traveling for baseball that weekend, we will gather the extended family at my house and enjoy a good meal. My twelve-year old would rather just go outside and play with his cousins, usually that involves a bat and a ball, a basketball, or even swimming if it’s warm enough in southern California. My oldest may not even be home–you know, being almost grown and all (insert sad teary emoji here).
Traveling for Sports on Easter Sunday
For the last several years we’ve been traveling out of state for a baseball tournament that weekend. This means the team mamas get together to plan a fun travel friendly Easter Basket idea for our kids. We brainstorm ahead of time and then purchase the materials. Then we designate a pseudo Mom’s night to put them all together!
We designate who will be bringing what and then we decide on meeting up in one of our hotel rooms and assemble the baskets or treats. Yes, there is often wine. And music. And there has even been known to be scented candles too, it’s a full basket assembly experience! It’s truly a fun time for us moms. For those of us who don’t have younger kids, we are aware that these days are numbered. We’re most definitely making the best of them!
It’s all made for a more relaxing time for me, but I know kids outgrow these things at different ages, and many of you still have little ones at home.
I can practically bet that you may have already looked through Pinterest for DIY Easter Basket ideas, and you’d be so right in doing so! That’s my go-to spot for anything craft or cooking related, so I am totally with you there moms!
Don’t worry, I still love me a good Easter Basket, especially those with a sports theme, so I gathered up some great ones I found on good ol’ Pinterest for you. Yes, all in one spot! You’re welcome! 🙂

This might be my favorite one. How fun would it be to get this filled with grass and some Easter Eggs. I don’t care what their age is, they’d be playing with this for weeks to come! I was worried it might be huge, but when folded up, it becomes a box that is 15.5″ x 10″ x 9.75″!
Ok, I’ll admit it. This one is definitely a splurge. BUT, can you imagine how cool this mini (It’s 16″ x 12″) door-mountable basketball hoop would look if you just tied off the bottom of the net and then filled it up with goodies! Plus, how much fun would this be in their bedroom or playroom after Easter!
