Preheat oven to 350°
Combine butter, both sugars, until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
In a separate bowl combine salt, and baking soda, and gradually add the flour until fully combined.
Stir in the butter mixture and the chocolate chips.
Drop by large spoonfuls onto an ungreased pan.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are browned. Remove from oven and let sit on the cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes. Place the cookies on a cooling rack for another 5 or so minutes to set.
